Amino acids are basic building blocks of bodies of all animals. They are essential for protein synthesis which constitutes our muscles, organs, ligaments, tendons, glands, hair, and many vital body fluids.
Among the 20 standard amino acids, nine of them cannot be synthesised by the body and must be taken from diet. They are called essential amino acids. Lysine and threonine are some of the essential amino acids that must be supplied from outside source.
Besides, amino acids are also widely applicable in many industries. For example, glutamic acid is used for making MSG (Monosodium Glutamate), which is a type of flavour enhancer in food.
